Student Eligibility

Students are selected for the targeted assistance program through multiple measures of criteria such as classroom performance, grades, parental input, scores on standardized tests, marking period grades, and teacher and parent recommendations and any other academic information as needed to see if Title I services are needed. The parents of all Title I students receive notification of this placement and must return a signed letter acknowledging their child’s placement into the Title I program.

Students are initially screened using the I-Ready Fall Diagnostic Assessment. The I-Ready Fall Diagnostic scores provide the school with initial screening information.  Exceptions are made for students who test well but classroom performance indicates assistance is needed, as well as the students who tests poorly but classroom performance indicates assistance is not needed.

Throughout the school year, the progress of students enrolled in the Franklin Elementary Title I targeted assistance program will be monitored at regular intervals, and if the student achieves a mastery level on all identified areas in Language Arts and Mathematics, the student will be recommended to exit the program. In addition, progress reports are sent home along with the student’s report card to show parents how their child is progressing.
