Franklin School has an enrollment of approximately 450 students in grades kindergarten through four. The typical class has approximately 21 pupils. The teachers, administration and staff work in concert to provide an environment that nurtures learning, academic and personal growth, community spirit and a positive self-image in our students. Instrumental music lessons, band and orchestra are available to interested third and fourth grade students. The incorporation of a World Languages program in our second through fourth grade classes provides our students with an enjoyable exposure to conversational Spanish.

The school's Title I Targeted Assistance Program and Resource Center provide small group and individualized instruction for selected students to help remediate skill deficiencies and improve self-confidence. The Title I Program features a networked computer lab that enables the students to work at their own pace and level in a variety of learning areas. A supplementary program for academically gifted and talented students is also available for those students who meet the district's established eligibility criteria.

Through a special D.E.P.A. (Demonstrably Effective Program Aid) Grant from the N.J. State Department of Education, Franklin School offers a summer school program, an after school reading enrichment program (Grades 1 and 2) and an after school N.J. ASK (Assessment of Skills and Knowledge) preparation program (Grades 3 and 4) for students who benefit from additional instructional time beyond the regular school day. The D.E.P.A. Grant also provides funding for a full-time counselor, cultural arts assembly programs, field trips and parent and staff training.

Franklin School has an active Parent Teacher Association. The PTA works diligently on behalf of the students and school community. Through their various fund raising activities, the PTA provides many special assembly programs and purchases materials and equipment that supplement the students' instructional program. In addition, the PTA sponsors a host of fun-filled family oriented activities including the School Fair, Family Fun Night, the Holiday Music Program and the Spring Arts and Music Festival.
